An epic and uninterrupted family story
My father Philippe’s story is a source of wonder.
Hearing him talk about his personal story and my grandparents past gives us the energy to carry on this epic family adventure and the company that goes with it.
His story is so rich! Emancipated by his father at 18, he started out planting vines, then joined the army, got married, and lived through “Les Trente Glorieuses” era as well as the tough years.
Back in these days, between the 1950s and the 1970s, horses were used to work in the very fragmented vineyard.
Knowing Champagne golden age, my father’s devotion for his work can be described by this quote: “There is no favorable wind for the sailor who doesn’t know where to go” (Seneca).
Today, the same enthusiasm encourages my husband Olivier and I, Elodie Mobillion-Robbe, passionate winegrowers, as we follow in the footsteps of our parents, Philippe and Francine.
We grow the three emblematic Champagne grape varieties as follows: 40% pinot meunier, 40% pinot noir and 20% chardonnay, exclusively in Sacy, our single-growth terroir including a total of 73 parcels.
We sell our bottles in France and abroad, particularly in Northern Europe, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Italy (…), with the pleasure of sharing our bubbles beyond our borders.
Today, we keep the same vision of the profession and the vine: a job well done, man’s healthy relationship with the land, cultivated with respect for the fruit it produces and its environment.
Handing over the know-how is based on the conviction nothing good can be achieved without taking into account what we already accomplished, but also nothing is impossible for those who give themselves the means.
The credo of excellence
With a ten-year professional experience before returning to the farm, we got experience in management, adaptation and entrepreneurship.
We also know only perfection prevails in our Protected Designation of Origin production. This is why we are so demanding to the work we do in our vineyards, in our winemaking and in our marketing.
We take particular care with our vineyards, working for a sustainable approach, and have been awarded “High Environmental Value” (HEV) and “Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne” (VDC) labels since 2019.
We are constantly looking for the best in our grape varieties, establishing a cycle of vineyard renewal, meaning uprooting old vines. On the other hand, this does not prevent us from lovingly preserving 70-year-old plots to create special vintage.
Following in Philippe’s footsteps, Olivier, geological engineer, and fundamentally inspired by the diversity of soils throughout our terroir, applies a wise and precise care to the plants.
We practice tillage and ploughing, looking for the good and the beautiful. Choosing biodiversity and aesthetics is not incompatible!
Dwarf clover and legumes happily produce the basis of our natural grass cover.
Our fertilizer is totally organic and so is our three-hectare vineyard.
Regarding our small plots temporarily left fallow, after uprooting and before replanting, we sow them with leguminous plants such as alfalfa, as well as melliferous flowers to the delight of our bees.
In the heart of the village, we have always planted roses at the end of our vines to brighten our plots.
